Canola oil

According to research from Dakota State University, the use of canola oil decreased colon tumor size and occurrence in test animals. Researchers speculate that introducing canola oil in everyday cooking may provide protection against the formation of colon cancer.

According to university professor of chemistry Chandradhar Dwivedi, research shows that canola oil decreased the likelihood of cancerous tumor-formation in the colon of lab animals by one-third. During experiments on rats, canola oil decreased the occurrence of tumors by 60%, and the size of the occurring tumors by 90%.

Researchers say that although linseed oil contains much more health-boosting omega-3 fatty acids, canola oil is way easier to include in everyday diet. According to the professor, the biggest asset of canola oil over others is its versatile use in everyday cooking. If people use canola oil instead of others, they can introduce omega-3 fatty acids in their diet. Another noticeable asset is the favorable 3:1 ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids; this ratio in Americans in general is currently 10:1, due to other fats consumed.
